Father, Heavenly Father
Posted unknown

Words by Gavin Anderson
Music by Raymond Loughborough

Oh, Lord of love and beauty,
To Thee our hearts are wed.
To Thee in lowly duty,
We ever bow the head.
Oh, perfect loving Father
Your ransomed children all,
Across the crystal seas to You
In fond devotion call.

Chorus:–
Where You lead, we'll follow;
When you speak, we hear;
If You light our pathway,
What have we to fear?
Father, heavenly Father,
Let what may befall —
Ever shall we hold You
Dearest — best of all!

Oh, God of all creation,
Dear loving Lord of auld,
May all our days be sunny
And our path — a path of gold!
Wide though we be scattered,
By strangers and by fear,
Shepherd of the sheep to You,
We come and gather near.

Chorus:–
Where You lead, we'll follow;
When you speak, we hear;
If You light our pathway,
What have we to fear?
Father, heavenly Father,
Let what may befall —
Ever shall we hold You
Nearest, dearest — best of all!

Rally 'Round the Standard
Posted 1988

Words: Gavin Anderson, in Bold as an Eagle, 1988.
Third verse, alt, Julie Wilhite; last verse: Julie Wilhite.
Music: Julie Wilhite, (Chicago, Institute in Basic LIfe Principles,1992)

Does the battle 'round you throng?
All around seem lost in flame?
Faintly sounds the rally song,
"Gather 'round the Savior's name!"

Refrain
Rally 'round the standard and hold it high!
Live a life for Jesus, though all defy!
Rally 'round the standard,
Rally 'round the standard;
Lift the name of Jesus high!

Does the Heav'nward march seem long?
Does the en'my block the way?
Sound aloud the Victor's song;
Lift His banner in the sway!

Refrain

Does the standard seem to tack
In the midst of battle cry?
Shall we call the standard back?
Nay! by faith we'll hold it high!

Refrain

Brilliantly it's folds unfurled,
In triumphant breezes blow.
Christ has overcome the world;
In His name we onward go!

Refrain

There was a 4th verse, which never made it into the hymn because it didn't fit the meter. Even looking at it now, I can't think how to make it fit, but I still like the words:

The Vict'ry is in sight now,
So hold the standard higher.
Once again renew your vow,
To stand against hellfire.
